Tracking Form Conversion can be tedious and time consuming. Each time you publish a lead generation form, you’ll need to set goals in your Google Analytics account and place additional tracking code on your website.

However, the easiest way to set up form conversion tracking in Google Analytics is to use Monster Insights. Automatically track all form transformations as events without having to mess with code or manual goal setting.

All you need to do is install and activate the MonsterInsights form add-on. You can use it immediately with the contact form plugin without having to set up an analytics account. After installing the Monster

Insights plugin and connecting it to Google Analytics, go to Insights »Add-ons and click Install under the Forms add-on.

MonsterInsights Form Add-on Installation Once the plugin is installed, the button will change to Activate. Go ahead and click the Activate button to make sure the add-on is active and available.


MonsterInsights now automatically records form data and displays it in reports. You can view the report by navigating to the Insight »Report» form.

Lead Source Tracking with Google Analytics

We have set up form conversion tracking with Google Analytics, so you may want to see which source brought the most leads to your site.

MonsterInsights shows the performance of forms and which forms are best transformed. To find out where your leads are coming from, you need to go to your Google Analytics account.

After logging in, select Action »Events» Top Events from the menu on the left. Here you can view the form as an event category. Click on the form.


Track Form Conversion Source Next, you’ll see the event actions and the total number of impressions and conversions. I want to see the source of the person who filled out the form, so click Convert.

Now you can see all the forms submitted by the visitor. Then click on the form that interests you in finding the source. This can be a contact form, a quote form, or any lead generation form.

form, the next thing to do is to use the quadratic dimension.

You can do this by clicking the Secondary Dimension drop-down menu and selecting Source / Media. This option is available in Attract Customers, but you can also enter the source / media in the search bar.

This will show you all the sources that the visitor came in and filled out on the form. For example, you can see people arriving from search engines under Google / Organic.

Now you can go one step further and use advanced filters to further refine your data. Suppose you are interested in traffic coming from other websites, in this case referrals.

Advanced filters allow you to filter your data to see only referrals as a source. To do this, click Details next to the search bar.

Now select Include »Source / Medium» Include and enter a referral in the last field. After entering these details, click Apply.

You can do the same for other sources and use advanced filters to dig deeper into your form transformation sources. Tracking Form Conversion Sources with WPForms Another way to track form conversion sources with WPForms is to use WPForms. The user journey add-on records the path a visitor takes before submitting a form on a website.

To get started, you need to install and activate the add-on from WP Forms. However, keep in mind that you will need a Pro or later plan to access the add-on and view the report.

From the WordPress admin area, go to WP Forms and click Add-ons. Then go to User Journey Addon and click Install Addon.

Then you will see a list of form entries. Click the user’s View button to see how the user has taken before submitting the form.

Then scroll down to User Journey to see what the visitor did on your website. The report shows the page that the user viewed, its date, time, and duration.

And when you click the info icon, WP Forms will display the URL parameters of the page used by the visitor. You can also click the Open Window in New Tab icon to open that page.
